Integrated features
The Flapper's PCB already includes a microSD card slot for logging, an interface for WS2812b RGB LEDs and, from model year 2022 (PCB revision D), also a current sensor.
Micro SD logging
To use the high-speed micro SD card logging, you need to set-up the logging configuration on your uSD card first according to these instructions (tab “Usage”).
The insert the micro SD card as indicated on the photos below:
- from model year 2022 on
- prior to model year 2022
If you experience problems with logging, first make sure that your firmware has the uSD deck enabled. The easiest way is to check this is via the console messages in the CFclient or in the phone App.
If the deck is enabled, but the uSD card is not detected/mounted correctly, the card could be corrupted. Formatting it using this utility usually fixes the issue. If it does not, please try with a different uSD card type/model.
Prior to model year 2022, if your Flapper came equipped with an external receiver, micro SD logging function is NOT enabled by default due to pin conflict. You can disable the receiver and enable micro SD card in the firmware. If you would like to use both at the same time, a small hardware modification is necessary, please contact our support for instructions.
RGB LEDs
The Flapper's PCB is equipped with an interface for WS2812b RGB LEDs. The 3.8V power supply can deliver up to 1A. The interface locations varies depending on the PCB version of your Flapper:
Prior to connecting RGB LEDs to the 2021 revision, please read the information in the Custom addons section. Add a 1k resistor to the signal line to protect the GPIO of the STM microprocessor.
Current sensing (model year 2022 and newer)
Newer Flapper Drones have also an integrated current sensing functionality. The current and power values can be found in the “current” log group. The current sensing uses this resistor and an ADC of the Bolt's STM. If precise measurements are needed, we recommend calibrating the sensing constant “ampsPerVolt” in the “current” parameter group. In the same parameter group, you can also tune the low pass complementary filter constant “filtAlpha” (0 to disable, 1 for infinite response).
